Executed with the same discretion as the other venue, it’s easy to miss the black and white question mark sign denoting the bar’s entrance on Stoke Newington High Street. A staircase leads down from street level and opens into a surprisingly spacious subterranean space, in a strikingly similar format to its previous incarnation as Moustache Bar up the road.

Retro ‘50s furnishings cling to the periphery of the room and the interior remains true to its routes with walls colourfully adorned with vintage film posters, cartoon strips and the odd famous face sporting the trademark moustache. Capturing the same essence as the old bar, taking up an entire wall is a blackboard provocatively emblazoned with the question ‘What are you talking about?’ giving punters the chance to vie for the most abstract, cheeky quips.

When it comes to the smoking area, Question Mark Bar beats Moustache hands down. Located on a huge roof terrace, it is without a doubt one of the best smoking areas in London. And unlike Moustache, the sheer enormity of the terrace precludes the threat of cigarette burns and drink spillages.
